It’s important for my readers to understand my background and the things that are most important to me. I want you all to get to know me just as I want to get to know all of you! Growing up I’ve always had a dog so my love for them just grew over time. When I moved in with my boyfriend, we decided we were going to rescue one so we can give a shelter dog a good, loving home.
We visited the Humane Society and SPCA several times, but had no luck. We started looking at their Instagram pages and kept seeing this 3 year old red nose pit bull who was so unique looking. She had two brown circles around her eyes as if she was wearing goggles, which had us drawn to her. They kept her in the office, away from the other dogs in the kennel for some reason. One Saturday morning, after seeing several posts about “Jasmine” for weeks, my boyfriend looked at me and said “let’s go get her”. We got up, got dressed, drove down to the Humane Society and took a look in the kennels first. Nothing. We went up to the front desk and asked for Jasmine. The lady said “oh she’s right here!” We were greeted by little Jasmine when she put her two little paws on the counter. She was so skinny, with scars around her neck. They opened up the door for us to go in and she jumped right into my boyfriend’s arms. I swear he never looked so happy while looking at me saying “are you kidding me?!” We knew then why they had kept her in the office with them. The workers were so sad to see her go, but were ecstatic that she was finally getting her forever home. We signed the papers instantly and took little Jasmine home. She adjusted to our home immediately, sleeping in bed with us the very first night and every night after. We decided to keep the name Jasmine, but call her Jazz for short. As many dogs as I’ve had growing up, none compared to the love a shelter dog gives. I encourage everyone who wants to get a dog to please adopt and don’t shop. You will not regret having a little Jasmine of your own some day!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about adopting a rescue, please reach out to me! I’d love to help out in any way I can 🙂
Well done indeed for rescuing a dog. That’s great.
And many thanks for following my blog.
Best wishes, Pete.

I love your story about Jasmine! She’s a beautiful girl. We recently adopted a shelter dog, too. Her name is Nova and she’s a Siberian Huskie. There are so many wonderful dogs in shelters that would love a good home.

Thank you so much! And kudos to you for adopting☺️ I think many people are hesitant from getting one from a shelter but they always turn out to be the sweetest dogs!

She looks like such a sweetheart! I love putties; they get such a bad rep sometimes! I worked at an animal sanctuary in college … rescues are near and dear to my heart ❤️. I’ll have to introduce my two pups and kitty sometime ☺️

They really are such mush babies! Oh wow that was probably so hard for you. I always thought of working with animals but I tear up when I see a dog who’s hurting in a video on Facebook. So I don’t think I could do it. I just want to give them all love and a good home! It’s a shame to me that there are plenty of amazing dogs waiting for their forever home in a shelter, but a lot of people stray away from them. I really don’t understand why😔 thank you so much for reading and your kind thoughts though babes!💗
